For years, Foo Fighters and Nirvana legend Dave Grohl has been popping up in film cameos – from taking part in a rock’n’rolling Devil in Tenacious D In The Choose Of Future, to drummer ‘Animool’ in 2011’s The Muppets, to himself in Invoice & Ted Face The Music. However now, he’s obtained a correct starring function in Studio 666 – the Foo Fighters’ very personal haunted home horror film, directed by BJ McDonnell, from an preliminary story thought by Grohl himself.
The band was approached by a movie firm whereas engaged on newest album Drugs At Midnight in a creaky LA mansion. “They stated, ‘We’d like to make a horror movie with Foo Fighters’. Which I believed was essentially the most ridiculous fucking thought I’ve ever heard,” Grohl tells Empire within the Moon Knight subject. “However as I used to be sitting in that home on my own, day after day, I began considering, ‘We’ve obtained the home, we may do one thing right here.’ So I got here up with this ridiculous premise for a horror movie.”
In addition to the whole band, the movie stars Scream’s Jenna Ortega and a roll name of movie star cameos. “The casting course of was actually me wanting by way of my telephone,” admits Grohl. However, he says, one didn’t fairly come off. “We fucking requested Vin Diesel to be within the film! We had been like, ‘Oh my god, ten million individuals will go see this movie! And he stated no.” Despite the fact that Diesel lives close to the house-slash-studio-slash-set of the movie, it appears the Quick & Livid notion of ‘household’ didn’t prolong to the Foos. Higher luck subsequent time.
